Christine Rider is a working artist and art educator who lives in the greater Chicago area. She has a BA in studio art from the University of California, Berkeley and a Secondary Art Certification from Northeastern Illinois University. She has this to say about her craft, "becoming an artist has been a lifelong journey that started at an early age and has taken many roads, and years, to develop. Studying at Berkeley in the early 70s was loosey-goosey with very little direction or foundation. I learned more about technique while completing my secondary certification, and much more on a broader level while teaching secondary art. Teaching is the highest level of learning."
She retired from teaching secondary art in 2015, and has pursued other venues to share her knowledge. With an MS in Instructional Technology (Northern Illinois University), she has found that her knowledge of art and technology is a very desirable combination. She worked for Apple as a Creative Trainer, conducting workshops on the creative use of Apple products. She has taught adult courses on digital arts and digital painting at the Indianapolis Art Center, and youth animation using the Adobe Creative Suite. She is a certified Grumbacher Instructor and continues to teach private workshops and classes. She is a very energetic and engaging instructor.
